54-year-old deaf and dumb man crushed to death in Anambra

A hearing-impaired man was crushed to death by a Lexus car while crossing the road in Anambra. Despite being taken to the hospital right after, the unfortunate man couldn't survive. See details here!

A deaf and dumb man named George Nwanna has been crushed to death at Ogbatulenyi drive Federal Housing 3-3, Onitsha North, Anambra State.

Reports gathered by Naijauto say, the deceased, aged 54, was hit by a Lexus 330 car while he was crossing the road. The hearing-impaired man was quickly taken to a nearby hospital where the doctor on call confirmed his death on arrival.

While confirming the incident to newsmen, the spokesperson for Anambra Police Command, Haruna Mohammed said, the dead body has been laid in at Iyienu Hospital morgue where an autopsy will be carried out.

He said,

"At about 7.40pm, one George Nwanna ‘m’ aged 54 years old (deaf and dumb), a native of Agu-Ukwu Nri in Aniocha LGA was knocked down along Ogbatuluenyi Road Federal Housing Estate 3-3.

The deceased was knocked down by a Lexus Jeep 330 with registration No AKD 801 FAN driven by one Ikechukwu Akubueze ‘m’ of No 5 Umunya Street Federal Housing Estate 3-3 Onitsha.

Traffic Officers attached to 3-3 Division Onitsha visited the scene and victim was rushed to Queen of the Rosary Hospital Onitsha for medical treatment.

Victim was subsequently referred to Iyienu Hospital Ogidi for further treatment where he was later confirmed dead by the doctor on duty."
