For driving accident free in 2018 and meeting product delivery targets, the management of NASCON Allied Industries Plc, which is a subsidiary of Dangote Group, has decided to say kudos to its truck drivers.
The Executive Director, Commercial, of NASCON Allied, Hajiya Fatima Aliko Dangote, who is also the daughter of Aliko Dangote, presented the gifts in sums of N50,000 each to the drivers. She added that drivers were a vital part of the company’s workforce, and the company would continue to recognize their excellent performances towards safe driving. Fatima remarked that such rewards are presented annually not only to commend competent drivers but also to reinforce them.

“No serious organization will take its drivers for granted. Our drivers are the most important in the distribution chain. They take a lot of risks while striving to deliver products and meet targets and even exceed targets. We are doing this to recognize them, that they matter in our business and we will continue to celebrate them.”
However, Fatima also noted that the company has resorted to different formats of encouragement to motivate drivers. She added that any driver who met their mandated target and also maintained zero or no record of accidents will be gifted with additional 50,000 thousand naira every quarter of the year. Speaking about the business transactions of their organization, she stated that their company business transactions is incomplete until the product reaches the customer, which can only be made possible by the driver. Urging their drivers, she told them not to rest nor feel reluctant but instead extend the performance of 2018 to 2019 and beyond, as the company will always see it that it fulfills its promise of looking after them.

The Fleet Admin Manager of NASCON, Mrs. Augustia Odega stated that about five truck drivers gained the recognition of the best performing truck drivers, and each of them has technically become NASCON brand ambassadors.
During the performance reward ceremony, the Corps Commander Akporowho Isaac, who represented the Lagos Zonal Commander of the FRSC appreciated Dangote Group for the action, saying that such initiatives are rare. He also advised drivers to practice safe driving and to always respect other road users. Over the years, Dangote trucks have been involved in accidents which got a lot of press.
