British automaker Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has followed suit with automakers temporarily closing their businesses as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic. The luxury auto brand stated that the closure of its operations in the United Kingdom (UK) is expected to last for two weeks, starting on March 23, 2019.

In a press release disseminated by the company, Rolls-Royce officials stated that the move was imperative to protect the health and welfare of its workers. Prior to the COVID-19 frenzy, the organization had planned to embark on a 2-week maintenance holiday during the Easter season. Merging both stay-at-home periods together, employees of the company will be away from work for a total of four weeks.

Part of the statement read thus:
"Rolls-Royce Motor Cars announced today that production at the company's Goodwood-based manufacturing plant will be suspended from Monday 23 March for two weeks," the company said.
"In order to further secure the health and welfare of the employees of the company this suspension will be followed by an already-planned two-week Easter maintenance shutdown."
The last few days have seen a surge of automakers including Ford, Ferrari, Fiat Chrysler, Renault, Volkswagen, etc. temporarily closing down their factories and offices in Europe. This tough business action became inevitable after the World Health Organization made a declaration of Europe as the epicenter of the widespread infection.
