Following President Buhari’s extension of lockdown to 2 more weeks, the government of Enugu state has also made its own move by announcing a limit on tricycle operation time in the state. According to the news report, Prof. Simon Uchenna Ortuanya – the secretary to Enugu State government made this decision known when speaking to the press recently. He states that the restriction is in line with the Enugu government’s unrelenting efforts to help sustain and protect the resident of the state from the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the report, Prof Ortunaya reiterated that the earlier directive of the Governor that restricts tricycle operators from carrying more than two passengers at once still remains.

Addressing the press further, Prof Simon Ortunaya also stated that any rider found violating this directive would be arrested by security men and dealt with accordingly. He reminded that the Governor’s directive to tricycle operators is that they should not carry more than just two passengers at a time during this period of COVID-19 outbreak. Also, riders should now keep in mind to only operate within the specified time frame or risk being sanctioned.
