From the latest report reaching us, 2 people suspected to be couple were crushed to death on Tuesday in a road accident involving a Sino truck, a motorcycle and a Toyota Camry in Odogbara, beside NNPC on the Sagamu-Ogijo road in Ogun State.

Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi, who happens to be the Ogun State Spokesperson for Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, confirmed the unfortunate incident in Abeokuta recently while talking to the News Agency of Nigeria.

From what he said, the tragic incident that happened around 7:40 am was reportedly caused by reckless driving, brake failure and excessive speeding on the part of a non-registered motorcycle. As a result, the motorcycle crashed into a Camry car with the registration number FKY-733 GF in the rear. The bike fell across the road and the 2 passengers on it were crushed to death by a truck that was coming from behind as at the time. The rider of the motorcycle escaped death as he only sustained injuries from the accident.
Akinbiyi revealed that 6 people were involved in this accident, with 1 injured, while 2 people lost their lives. From the eyewitness’s report, the bike was coming from Ogijo axis, moving towards Sagamu when the rider tried to overtake the Camry, which backfired considering he had already overtaken 3 trailers. He hit the car from the back and fell on the road.

The truck with the registration number AGL-505 WX from behind ran over the passengers suspected to be husband and wife. The couple died instantly on the spot. The bodies of the deceased according to Akinbiyi had been deposited at the Olabisi Onabanjo Teaching Hospital. The rider is presently receiving treatment at the Idera Hospital in Sagamu.
