Nigerian Artiste Oxlade broke into the Nigerian music video scene with his cool voice and unique style in 2020, and so far has become an instant hit. In April, the video for his hit single ‘Away’. The music video opens with a panoramic shot of the 1967 Volkswagen Beetle driven across a bridge by Oxlade. The bright orange car appears throughout the video as Oxlade sings about his romantic interest in his video vixen.
The car is loaded with what seems like his belongings as he proposes to take his woman away, as the song title implies. Finally, after much pleading, his woman leaves with him in the Beetle loaded with luggage.
Rema - IRON MAN
Rema, another Nigerian music sensation used the Beetle for aesthetical purposes for his music video Iron Man. A bright orange beetle was also used, very much similar to that used by Oxlade, and we could rightly wonder if it was the same car. Anyways, the car takes different shades under colored lights as the artist performs right in front of it.
The Cadillac has been used in Nigerian music videos over the years due to its elegance and extravagance, especially when that is what the artist is trying to portray. The following videos, among others, used the Cadillac for their music videos in 2020.
2.1 Cadillac Deville Convertible - (Falz-- BOP DADDY)
Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, released the video to his single Bop Daddy using the Cadillac which he calls in the song, Droptop caddy.
Falz and his gang cruise around throughout the video in the Cadillacs while he spits out the lyrics to his song. The Cadillac fit perfectly for his song because it was a repeated line and of course because of the majesty and zest that the Cadillac exudes.
