The American muscle cars, the vintage cars, represent golden era of big engines and cheap fuel. Click here to see the six minutes video of the drag race glory!

We love spicing things up here on Naijauto. The automotive world offers unlimited possibility. That is why you should expect lots of exciting news from us. We are taking a peep into drag race scene and we are happy to show you the glory through a six minutes video of classic American muscle drag race.

Below are some words from the record team!

We feature quite a few drag racing clips from Wheels on YouTube. The video quality is great, and we’re never disappointed at the range of cars that show up for the action. Mission Raceway Park is where the racing takes place; it’s a sanctioned NHRA quarter-mile track located roughly 25 miles east of Vancouver and just a few clicks north of the U.S./Canada border. We’ve seen plenty of modern muscle tackling the course and even a few exotics from time to time. Lest we forget – this is where the adorable kid went absolutely bonkers over seeing a Lamborghini.

The wheels teams are going old school in this time around. This straight line of speed has been existing for a long period of time. But talking about the evolution of speed contest in the automotive world, the drag race art began with the American muscle car period in the 1960s. The vintage cars are made to do what they do best in this particular race. There is lot of excitements to catch as the entire three Detroit’s car manufacturers are duly represented in the race.

The vintage cars represent the era of big engines, cheap gasoline. There were a lot of competitions which led to bragging rights. So, when you hear stories or whispers about the automakers in Detroit racing their prototype on Woodward Avenue in Detroit, you shouldn’t doubt it because it is absolutely true.

The drag race was an opportunity for automotive engineers to examine their upgrades against what other rivals or tuners from crosstown are presenting in a real straight up environment. This was indeed a period to be a fan of horsepower.

That era of horsepower didn’t end with those periods. It is still very much in contention now. Though the 1960s was a golden age for those muscle cars, but the modern age is more sophisticated and more innovative than the old era. This is a time where you can see cars with more than 700 horsepower, which are emission compliant automotive machines. These cars are very fast and yet pose little or no threat to the environment through harmful emission. They are cars with crazy warranty coverage which even exceed the most insanely factory manufactured cars that were built and used in the 1960s.

Because of the nature of the automotive world in the 1960s, it is quite a memorable experience watching the older cars scoot down the stripe-line. You should know that some of these old cars have more running power than most modern produced sedan could imagine having. However, you should never mind or doubt the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon. This car can comfortably deep into nine seconds range. This doesn’t take off the love we have for these classic muscle cars. Take a look at the video and give yourself automotive orgasm.

We hear rumours that some Nigerians are already engaging in this speed race contest in some cities in the country. If truly they are. They would be most likely classified as illegal street race. Asphalt standard roads are not really common in Nigeria so far. So, don’t try this stunt on a road with lots of potholes.

Drive safely!
