Cars destroyed in Fast and Furious: the number goes up to 1,500 in total!

Would you believe that a record of more than 1,500 cars has been literally destroyed in just shooting the movie Fast & Furious alone? See some of the unfortunate cars here!

We believe every car enthusiast out there will agree that the “Fast and Furious” franchise is among the greatest movies of all times since its premiere in 2001.

The amazing and unbelievable crazy auto stunts pulled off in the series of the Fast and Furious movies are with no doubt the top reasons why everyone got so attached to the series till now.

However, little did most of us know that; with all the crazy driving and automobile stunts we saw on screen comes with a price. Yes, that’s the bitter truth.

1. Up to 1,500 cars have been destroyed in filming Fast and Furious till date

As a matter of fact, as the auto stunts got crazier, more cars also got rendered useless and destroyed. This is no surprise why a total of over 1,500 cars have been reported to have been destroyed so far since the very first episode of the movie, “The Fast & Furious” of 2001.

The “Fast Five” episode of 2011 recorded a total of over 260 cars being destroyed in the making.

Also, a total of 300 – 400 cars were recorded to have been dismissed while shooting the “Fast and Furious 6” of 2013 alone. Some of the cars got blown up, others got thrown down from a plane and the rest got crushed.

The “Furious 7” of 2015 recorded a total of 230 cars being destroyed during the making. A super expensive $3.4 million (₦1.2 billion) Lykan HyperSport car, which is one of the world’s most expensive cars, also got destroyed this time. This was revealed by Dennis McCarthy, the Universal franchise’s picture car coordinator.

Even with all that, the crew still had to use a lot of replicas of the various super expensive car models featured in the movie in order to save cost. Those replicas were manufactured for them just to film the movie alone.

2. List of some expensive cars destroyed in the film making

Below are some the most expensive cars seen being destroyed in all series of Fast and Furious till now:

2.1.The 2006 Dodge Viper SRT-10
