Tragic Easter in Gombe as car runs into Boys Brigade killing 10

A car ran into some Boys Brigade Battalion in a procession in Gombe state, during the late hours of Sunday, killing 10 of them.

Report reaching says the Boys Brigade are from ECWA church in Bamusa Barunde and St Peter's Anglican Church, Madaki. The Battalions had the procession around 11.30 pm, on the day the tragedy struck. And they were heading to Sabon-Layi Area, in Gombe city where they anticipated celebrating Easter on Monday.

Following the incident, the boys were quickly taken to the State Specialist Hospital, Gombe state.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Gombe State Police Command, Mary Malum, confirmed the incident stating the number of death to be 10.

Mary told newsmen that eight persons from the death toll were Boys' Brigade Gombe State members while the two other victims were the person driving the car and his friend.

The Police Public Relations Officer also stated that the Gombe police has begun investigations into the incident.

The  Boys' Brigade captain from ECWA church, Bogo (Gombe state), Micheal Achika, made an appeal to the state government asking that the hospital bills that will be incurred by other Boys' Brigade members receiving treatment be paid off by the government.

He also asked that the families of the dead members be compensated by the government.

Micheal equally praised  Gombe State Specialist Hospital staffs for their quick response in attending to the injured boys when they were rushed in.

According to Micheal, the injured boys are responding to treatment.
