The report reaching us here on Naijauto has it that the accident occurred on Friday evening around 7.30 pm.
According to reports, the crash involved three vehicles that collided into each other, in Tukai village, in Dambatta Local Government Area of Kano state.
Mr. Kabiru Ibrahim, who was the Federal Road Safety Corps' (FRSC) Public Relations Officer in the state, wrote a statement on Saturday, to confirm the accident that happened.
The statement revealed that the accident occurred around 7.30 pm, on a Friday evening. It was between three vehicles including a Peugeot 406, a Honda Accord and a Volkswagen Golf car.
Mr. Ibrahim went further to say that the accident which took 16 lives happened as a result of over speeding, a violation of the speed limit car drivers are supposed to maintain on the road. This resulted in the drivers losing control.

Last year, a tragic accident had claimed 22 students lives in Kano
And according to him, the Federal Road Safety Corps personnel carried other injured persons and the corpses to Dambatta Hospital.
Mr. Ibrahim also stated that the sum of ₦579,000 and a Niger Republic currency, 10,000 CFA was retrieved by the police rescue team. He gave an assurance that the recovered money would get to the relations of the victims who owned the money, after proper identification.
As explained by him, the Golf car was coming from Daura and heading towards Kano state. The Peugeot 406 was said to be coming from Kano.
