Andy Wallace, Bugatti test driver, took over the wheel of a near production Bugatti Chiron on 2 August 2019, hitting a new speed record of 307.77 mph (490.48 km/h) with the Hypercar at the test facility belonging to Volkswagen in Ehra-Lessian.
This is not just a regular Bugatti Chiron, the record setting Hypercar is longer by 25cm and only took six months to manufacture, with the collaboration of Bugatti’s engineers, Michelin (tyre manufacturer) and Dallara (chassis expert).
The specially designed Bugatti Chiron is the fastest production car ever for reaching 307.77 mph during road testing
In ascertaining the remarkable potential of this speed demon, the usual airbrake, electronic speed limiter and wing with the production versions of 261 mph were removed. The new model comes fitted with a Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 Tyre, specially designed tyres for such race.

The Technical Inspection Association, TUV, in Germany had already verified this new speed record, which implies that the Chiron had broken the previous fast run record from Koenigsegg’s 284.55 vmax, two-way run of 277.87 in 2017 and the infamous 300 mph barrier for a production car.
