Right from time, the act of driving at very high speed has been known to be dangerous for both a driver and every other road user. This terrible act has recently caused a BRT driver to flee after crushing a woman to death in Lagos with his vehicle. The daughter of the woman was also not exempted as she suffered serious injuries from the fatal crash. The shocking incident reportedly occurred on Union Road in the Dopemu part of the Agege area, Lagos State.

Press reports identified the woman killed by the Lagos BRT driver as Reini Akakpo. She is said to be 26-yrs old while her daughter of just 1yr old was also injured in the fatal crash. Both victims were taken to the University Teaching hospital in Ikeja before the woman gave up the ghost. An eyewitness told newsmen that the woman was attempting to cross a BRT lane when the bus driver knocked her down. The eyewitness alleged that the BRT driver was moving at a very high speed when he rammed into the woman and her daughter.

According to media reports, the BRT driver that knocked down a woman in Lagos is still on the run till now. Even though the woman is dead, her 1yr-old daughter is said to be alive and receiving treatment at LASUTH. In another development, the husband of the deceased woman is alleging that doctors and nurses at LASUTH left his wife to die. He claims that the medical practitioners abandoned the woman for over an hour without attending to her. However, the CMD of the hospital said that the claim is wrong but rather the woman died on arrival.
