The government of Lagos state has recently announced that it will soon commission the BRT terminus in Oyingbo for public use. This is really good news for Lagosians residing in that area because the terminus has actually been abandoned by the previous administration ever since former Governor Akinwumi Ambode stepped down from office.
Abandoned Oyingbo BRT bus terminus will kick off operations soon – Lagos Govt
New reports have confirmed that the government of Lagos state under the administration of Governor Sanwo-Olu is done with all necessary works that will enable the Oyingbo BRT bus terminal to become usable for the general public soon.
This is the same multi-billion Naira project that had been deserted for quite some time now following the change in the government of Lagos state.
It can be recalled that the former governor of Lagos state, Akinwumi Ambode who began the bus terminus project intended that it would serve as a comfortable and befitting environment which would change the narrative of public transport for Lagosians. Unfortunately, he couldn’t commit the project for public use before leaving office and this had led to the bus terminus being abandoned for months now.
Lagos Govt is set to open Oyingbo BRT bus terminus for public use anytime from now
Former Lagos Governor, Akinwumi Ambode tagged the terminus project a “Bus Reform Initiative” as at the time of its inception back then. Some of the listed areas which are expected to benefit from the project include;
- Tafawa Balewa Square
