Stories of alleged unruly behavior of urban taxi drivers such as Taxify (Bolt) and Uber are becoming rampant. Every other day, someone calls them out online, narrating their ordeal. And with the popularity of smart phones, there are always images to back up their claims as the passengers often record their encounter with the drivers. This time, a lady with the Twitter handle @Giigy _N, shared her bad encounter with a Taxify driver in Abuja.
According to the lady, the driver threatened to beat her up and throw her out of his car because she told him that the N100 toll fare was already included in her charges. Apparently, this did not go down well with the driver, and he expressed his grievance in an unprofessional manner. In the video, both the lady and driver are engaged in an argument over the N100 toll fare.
The displeased customer shared the following message online, drawing the attention of the company.
“Your driver Abraham harassed and threatened me today in Wuse Market @Boltapp_ng because I told him the N100 toll is already included in the fare. He said he will beat me out of his car and come to my house.”
The aggrieved Taxify (Bolt) driver
At the time of filing this report, Taxify (Bolt) was yet to respond to the allegation.
Taxify and Uber became popular among elite Nigerians due to the transportation convenience they offered. But such negative reviews on a regular basis could have a negative effect on them in the long run.
