Let’s drive this unique car as often as possible to whet appetites of others on the road.
This bizarre BMW i3 “Spaghetti Car” is co-designed by artist Maurizio Cattelan and photographer Pierpaolo Ferrari for the Rencontres d’Arles Festival of Photography last year. The delicious-looking car was put up for auction at the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation’s Fourth Annual Saint-Tropez Gala for €100,000. And after an “intense bidding”, this i3 Spaghetti belonged to a Swiss collector along with a certificate of authenticity signed by the creators.

Frankly speaking, the exterior layout of this i3 is extremely distinct. Apart from the peculiar spaghetti covering, the word “Toiletpaper”, a reference to designers’ "bi-annual avant-garde picture-based publication” is present on each door. “This is by far the best Spaghetti Car I have tasted! All those years of perfecting definitely paid off! Totally awesome!" said Cattelan at the car launch last year.

The donation of the “Spaghetti Car” for the Foundation’s annual charity gala in Saint-Tropez expresses BMW’s culture
According to BMW, the donation of the “Spaghetti Car” for the Foundation’s annual charity gala in Saint-Tropez expresses once again BMW’s culture: “daring, innovating, creating in complete freedom, in a responsible and sustainable spirit.”
Despite an odd body wrap, the Spaghetti Car features full functions of a BMW i3 EV. However, for some reasons, the German brand does not regard this strange i3 as one of its official art cars.
