Crazy performance from an expertly tuned beast leaves you in a state of constant awe and deep admiration. Yeah, the very best of the crop in the V8 engine class embodies the description mentioned here. As we continuously break engineering boundaries with engine design and production, we are expecting even more crazily crafted and insane high-performance V8’s. But, let’s take a brief look at some of the best V8 engines in the automobile market at the moment, in no particular order.

(1)    6.2 Liter Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Supercharged V8

This happens to be my favorite piece just because it is used in the Dodge Challenger. Oh, now you know, the Dodge Challenger is one of his true loves. Churning out a dubious 797 hp of unnatural booze, the 6.2-liter Hellcat Hemi Redeye high-performance V8 with a 2.4 Liter supercharger delivers 707 lb-ft torque at 4500 rpm.

(2)   5.0 Liter Jesko Koenigsegg Twin-Turbo V8

Koenigsegg Automotive founded by Christian von Koenigsegg, redesigned their 5.0-liter Twin-turbo V8 which was introduced to the world in its latest Koenigsegg, the Jesko Koenigsegg at the 2019 Geneva Motor show. This redesigned engine was built with a chamber bore size of 92 mm and a stroke distance of 95.25 mm with a compression ratio of 8:6:1.

Each cylinder is built with 4 valves, two intake valves for fuel-air mix supply to the chamber, and two exhaust valves. It comes with a dry-sump lubricant, over-head cams, and a flat-plane crankshaft which weighs about 12.5 kg making it the lightest crankshaft yet to be used in a production car.

The engine is accompanied by a Light Speed Transmission LST built with a multi-clutch, 9-speed system that permits swift and seamless downwards and upwards gear change. The engine generates an astonishing 1280 hp at 8500 rpm using standard petrol and 1600 hp using Biofuel, producing maximum torque of 1106 lb-ft at 5100 rpm.

This is another favorite that delivers some really solid numbers. It currently holds the title of the most powerful V8 offered by 2019 World Strongest Brand Ferrari. This engine is a befitting beast to be associated with the F8 Tributo which Ferrari refers to as “A Celebration of Excellence”.

On an open stretch, the F8 Tributo V8 reaches 62 mph starting from rest in just 2.9 seconds (can also accelerate from 0-124 mph or 0-200 km/h in only 7.8 seconds), and can reach a top speed of 211 mph or 340 km/h.

You can be sure of some solid torque offering, to a figure of 812 lb-ft at 4000 rpm.

Finally, we have the Brabus modified Mercedes-Benz AMG GLE 63 S Coupe which originally comes out of the factory with a 5.5-liter V8 engine that delivers over 550 hp and 516 lb-ft torque.

The Brabus modified version delivers a solid 850 hp at 5400 rpm and a maximum torque of 1060 lb-ft at 2500 rpm, reaching a top speed of 200 mph while clearing the 0-60 mph lap in just 3.8 seconds which is just impressive. The high torque available makes this version a real beast on the ground and on tough terrain.
