The Nigerian elders often advise youths to always remember their roots after achieving a great deal of success. This advice seems to be one that is highly treasured by Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom. Yes, the Benue governor recently gifted a new car to an 84-yrs-old man who supported him when he was “coming” up. Governor Ortom reportedly gave the aged statesman a black-coloured JMC Vigus pickup truck earlier this week.

The 84-yrs-old man who got a new car from the Benue governor is identified as Elder Banger Iyorhon. He is believed to have contributed greatly to Governor Ortom’s life, especially during his humble beginnings. Several media sources confirmed that the new JMC truck was presented to Elder Iyorhon some days ago by a representative of Governor Ortom. It was also reported that the elder statesman actually supported Samuel Ortom when he newly came into politics. The governor is said to have begun his political career by serving as a Chairman for Guma Local Government in Benue State.

It is confirmed that the elder statesman who recently got a car from Governor Ortom is a well-known politician with good records. In fact, his son claims that many people often refer to the statesman as Governor Ortom’s father. But truthfully, he is not the biological father of the governor but rather a “father” figure for him in politics. This is more reason why the Benue State Governor decided to honour him with the recent car gift. This gesture was well-received by the elder statesman as he reportedly said: “Thank you son” when receiving the car gift.
