Africa’s biggest TV reality show might have come to an end, but it still tops the charts in the news as its contestants continue to make headlines. The latest contestant bearing good news is Mike Edwards – first runner up from the Pepper Dem season – who has just been made a brand ambassador of automotive brand Mitsubishi.
Mike finished as the first runner up in the fourth season of the BBNaija show
An elated Mike made the announcement on the micro-blogging platform Twitter to his followers and the entire public at large. The athlete did not give many details about the endorsement, but wrote a short note, saying:
“Absolutely delighted to join the @MitsubishiNGR family. They dared to support an idea that most thought was crazy. To all the go-getters out there, this one is for us. #DriveYourAmbition #ManLikeMike”
We hope to get more details about the Mitsubishi endorsement in the coming days.

Mitsubishi is a Japanese automaker with a presence in Nigeria. It is famous for producing cars, buses, motorcycles and heavy equipment such as trucks. The auto brand is no longer in our faces in the Nigerian market as it was in the 90s. Hopefully, with an ambassador like Mike, the brand will revamp its popularity among the masses.
Mike was a strong contender for the ultimate prize in the reality show. He was arguably the most popular male contestant in the house – beating other male fan favorites like Seyi, Frodd and Omashola in eviction votes. Mike’s cool personality and swag endeared him to the hearts of many – to the extent that his fans were so sure that he would emerge as the winner. The only person who stood on his way to the star prize was the eventual winner Mercy Eke who obviously had a bigger fan base.
Mike is happily married to his fellow athlete wife Perri Shakes-Drayton.
