It is really sad to discover that 16 people recently lost their lives in a road crash caused by bandits along Kaduna-Abuja road despite several assurances given by the Federal government as regards security on the same road. Press reports confirmed that some bandits/kidnappers allegedly shot the tires of a bus conveying 16 wedding guest along Kaduna-Abuja road, thereby causing them to die in a horrific accident that followed the attack. This heartbreaking incident reportedly occurred on the night of Wednesday 9th of December 2020 in Dambatta town, Kano State.
16 wedding guests lost their lives in an accident allegedly caused by Bandits/Kidnappers along Kaduna-Abuja road
According to media reports, a close source to one of the deceased accident victims said that the affected people were actually returning from a South West state where they had gone to attend a wedding ceremony. He (undisclosed identity) further narrated that some suspected bandits/kidnappers ambushed the vehicle conveying the 16 wedding guests and allegedly shot at the tires in an attempt to stop the bus. Unfortunately, the high-speed at which the bus was moving during the attack caused it to somersault multiple times after the tires were shot at.
As of the time of writing this report, media sources claim that the bodies of the deceased victims had been taken back to be buried at Dambatta town that same night because of Islamic burial principles. However, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano state has not only confirmed the news of this terrible incident but also laid curses on the suspected bandits that caused such a tragedy.
The news of this terrible incident has not only got many people talking already but also sparked arguments between the government of Kano and Kaduna state.
Below is a recent press report video that highlights the current “bone of contention” between Kaduna and Kano state government over this incident.
