From a new report reaching us, a commercial bus driver and 10 passengers were kidnapped by unknown gunmen recently in Benue State. The bus in question was on its way to Onitsha from Jos, Plateau when the unfortunate incident happened.

According to further reports, this attack took place on the bad side of the road while the driver was trying to accelerate and find his way out of the danger zone. A source confirmed that the bus departed Jos around 7 am on Friday, 21st of October 2022 with 10 passengers. Unfortunately, the driver was ambushed by the bandits at 4 pm on the Eke Highway in Benue State. Reports claim that the passengers were led into a nearby bush where the attackers forced them to give up their phones and other valuables. The driver on the other hand was beaten mercilessly and taken alongside his passengers by the kidnappers.

A source noted that the hoodlums had already made contact with the transport company in Jos to ask for payment for the release of the victims. We learnt that a sum of ₦5milliob was placed on each passenger as ransom. However, the kidnappers also warned the company against the delay in payment as they vowed to start killing the victims if they fail to pay the ransom before Monday 24th of October 2022. The source also made it known that the kidnappers had stopped calling the transport company since their last conversation on Saturday. The kidnappers, according to a reliable source, are already contacting the families of the victims in their custody. It was reported that parents and close relatives of the victims held a meeting at the transport company’s premises where they agreed to negotiate the ransom with the kidnappers as a group rather than going to them individually.
