An auto crash involving a Volkswagen Golf 3 and Peugeot 206 left seven people dead and eleven injured in Maigatari – a local government in Jigawa State on Sunday, July 28, 2019. This was confirmed by the spokesman of the police command in the state, SP Abdu Jinjiri, while speaking to the press in the state capital, Dutse.
Jinjiri said that the driver of the grey-colored Peugeot 206 numbered TRN 948 AE, which had left Kano for Malammadori, lost grip of the car, and diverted to the opposite lane, engaging the green-colored Golf 3 in a collision. Seven people in the two vehicles gave up the ghost instantly while eleven including drivers of both vehicles survived with injuries of various degrees.

Speaking further, the police official disclosed that his colleagues responded swiftly after receiving information of the accident. The deceased and injured persons were taken to the Gumel General Hospital in Gumel LGA. According to him, the injured victims were responding well to treatments at the hospital. He was quoted saying:
“Yesterday, at about 2 p.m., the police in Maigatari LGA received information that at about 1:30 p.m., one Rabilu Ahmad aged 30 of Koki quarters in Dala LGA Kano state was driving a Peugeot 206 ash color with Reg No. TRN 948 AE heading to Malammadori.
“On reaching Kwalande village in Maigatari LGA, he lost control and crossed to the opposite lane where he had a head collision with an oncoming Golf 3 vehicle green color with Reg No. FW 94 ABJ driven by one Mohammed Aminami aged 30 of Dapchi LGA in Yobe state.”
