Ever since the outbreak of the uncontrollable Coronavirus pandemic, many auto shows have been canceled while some have been postponed and this has led many automakers to hold back on unveiling their new car models. However, the German automaker – Audi still managed to launch the 2021 model of its A3 Sportback vehicle recently. This newly unveiled car is now the 4th generation of the model and it's also based on the latest Volkswagen Golf MQB platform.

2021 Audi A3 Sportback – What’s new?
Just as expected, Audi made a lot of tweaks and noticeable changes to this new A3 Sportback as it now falls in a competitive category with the latest BMW 1 Series and the Mercedes-Benz A-Class. So, what are the changes and new things to look out for in this new 2021 Audi A3 Sportback?
First is the appearance; the new A3 Sportback comes only as a 5-door variant with a taut and sporty road stance. This new model comes with a honeycomb grille and a wide, hexagonal single frame that dominates the front section. It features a wedge-shaped shoulder line that runs from its headlights all the way to its rear lights, making the new model appear longer than older models.

Moving onto the inside of the new 2021 Audi A3 Sportback model, this is where most of the obvious improvements and changes can be noticed. The new model comes with a larger cabin space that now beautifully accommodates a new angular dashboard, which hosts a 10.25-inches digital instrument cluster or an optional 12.3-inches sized version.
The new model’s center console comes with an electronic handbrake button, and a 12V charging port that is now closer to the car’s gearshift lever when compared to its position in older models. Also, the interior of the new model features 2 cup holders positioned between the vehicle’s front seats alongside a cubby for storage of smartphones or other handy gadgets. 2021 Audi A3 Sportback – Under the Hood
When it comes to engine and power, the new Audi A3 Sportback didn’t really pack many surprises as it features engine variants that is the same with the Volkswagen Golf which it is based on.
The new A3 Sportback packs the following engine options and power outputs:
- 1.5-litre turbocharged 4-Cylinder engine with 150hp output and a mild-hybrid variant
- 1.0-liter 3-Cylinder engine with 110hp output
- 2.0-liter TDI diesel engine with 116hp or 150hp output
- 2.5-liter Inline 5-Cylinder engine with 400hp output (to be debuted soon) plus 2 plug-in hybrid versions of 1.4-liter each
All of the engine variants can be mated with the below transmission options:
- 6-speed manual transmission
- 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox
- 6-speed Dual-Shift-Gear
Audi says that this new A3 model will come standard with the front-wheel-drive system while the All-wheel-drive system will remain optional for now.
