Audi admits software problem, recalls 144,092 modern compact cars

Audi is recalling some 2017-2018 models due to defective airbags. Come check the recall list to see if your model was affected!

Audi is recalling some of its models due to defective airbags. A software glitch was detected which the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) says could disable the passenger airbag.

List of Audi recalled models

The German automaker revealed that the affected vehicles include:

  • Audi A4 Sedan 2017-2018 model
  • Audi A4 Allroad wagon 2017-2018 models
  • Audi A5 Cabriolet Convertibles 2018 models
  • Audi A5 Coupe 2018 models
  • Audi A5 Sportback 2018 models
  • Audi S4 2018 models
  • Audi S5 Cabriolet Convertible 2018 models
  • Audi S5 Sportback 2018 models
  • Audi S5 Coupe 2018 models

The affected models are 144,092 in number

Problems of Audi software

A connecting cable which was installed in the passenger occupant detection system tends to rust with time. When it does, the instrument panel will show a warning light notifying drivers over an airbag system malfunction. It’s capable of causing serious injury or even death when an accident occurs.

Information gathered by Naijauto says the affected models suffering from this defect are 144,092 in number. Audi says the recall will commence September 15 and owners and Audi dealers will be notified to that effect.

The problem will be fixed by updating the software which regulates the defective of charge. And for other owners who have already fixed theirs, they will be compensated.
