Fresh reports claim that German auto giant, Audi recently issued a new recall for some specific units of the 2021 RS6 and RS7 models in the United States. The reports confirmed that the affected cars may be having a factory defect that possess a threat to occupants of the vehicles. The defect has to do with the passenger airbags of the affected cars and it was traced down to a “supplier error” during the assembly process.
Media reports claim that Audi recently issued an urgent recall for the 2021 RS6 and RS7 models over passenger airbags related issue
According to media sources, Audi’s recall statement highlights that there is an issue with the scoreline of the passenger airbags that came with the affected cars. The statement revealed that the detected issue typically affects that part of the airbag through which it is being deployed when a crash occurs. So, this problem simply poses a risk of improper airbag deployment during a crash or no deployment at all. It also doesn’t end there, some plastic parts of the defective airbag system could also become projectiles that are capable of causing more injuries during a crash.
As of the time of writing this report, several media outlets claim that Audi is recalling a total of 3,388 affected units of the 2021 Audi RS6 and RS7 models. The list is said to include the following:
- 2019 – 2021 Audi A6 sedan and A7 Sportback
- 2020 – 2021 Audi S6 sedan, S7 Sportback and A6 Allroad
- 2021 Audi RS6 Avant
- 2021 Audi RS7 Sportback
