Two ammunition-laden trucks destroyed by Nigerian Air Force in Borno

On Wednesday, it's confirmed that two gun ammunition-laden trucks were destroyed by NAF's Alpha Jet Fighter en-route Garunda from Jumaacheri settlement in Borno. Check more details below!

Recently, two ammunition-laden gun trucks, belonging to the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), were destroyed in the Northern Borno by the Nigerian Air Force.

This statement was conformed in Abuja on Wednesday, by the Director of Public Relations at NAF, in the person of Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola. Daramola made it known that Air Task Force (ATF) destroyed these trucks in the course of Operation Lafiya Dole.


The two destroyed trucks are reported to owned by Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP)

He further stated the ISWAP gun trucks were spotted by the Alpha Jet aircraft belonging to the Nigerian Air Force, while carrying out reconnaissance mission along Gudumbali-Zari-Garunda axis. The trucks were claimed to be heading to Garunda from Jumaacheri settlement.


The Nigerian Air Force with the aid of its fighter jets and ground forces, is set to eliminate any form of terrorism in Northern Nigeria

He said:

“The attack aircraft tracked the two gun trucks as they attempted to evade detection by driving into the foliage.

“The aircraft engaged one of the gun trucks which is camouflaged under a tree, in successive passes scoring accurate hits leading to the neutralization of some of the ISWAP occupants.

“The gun truck was later seen engulfed in flames as a result of multiple mini-explosions of the on-board ammunition. The other gun truck was also tracked and immobilized after its occupants had abandoned it under another tree in the area,’’ 

He also made it known that operations against terrorism would be fully sustained by the air forces in collaboration with the ground forces.
