Not often are Danfo accidents featured on Nigeria news headlines but unfortunately, a ghastly “Vanagon” bus crash was recently confirmed to have claimed one life and left 12 other people badly injured at the Ogudu area of Lagos state.
Lagos “Vanagon” bus accident kills 1 and left 12 others badly injured
This saddening incident involving the popular Lagos commercial Volkswagen bus was confirmed in a public statement issued on Wednesday 15th of January 2020 by the DG of LASEMA, Dr. Femi Oke-Osayintolu.

Dr. Femi explained in his statement that the Vanagon bus with registration number GGE 845XQ was actually involved in a lone accident at the “under bridge” part of Ogudu while being loaded. He claimed that the LASEMA response team got to the accident scene on time and were able to help 12 badly injured victims escape the lone fatality scene.
In the statement, Dr. Femi said;
”Investigations conducted by the team revealed that the bus lost control while on speed and, as a result, rammed into the culvert at the spot, leading to the death one person and others sustained various injuries.
“Three of the injured male adults were taken to Gbagada General Hospital, another three male adults were taken to the General Hospital, Lagos Island.
”Another set of three injured male adults were taken to the Trauma Centre, while others were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment,”
Dr. Femi also appeals to all drivers to take caution when driving and make sure to obey all traffic laws for their own good.
