Toyota Avensis loses control, killing 4 college students & a little girl in Abeokuta

The driver of a Toyota Avensis lost control of the car after its tyre burst while on the road. And the vehicle tumbled and plunged into four female college students and a little girl. They were all crushed by the car and died on the spot.

It was gathered that the four college students were schooling at Government Technical College Abeokuta, Ogun state.


4 students of Government Technical College Abeokuta was killed

The spokesman for Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) Ogun state chapter, Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi, already confirmed the accident to NAN (News Agency of Nigeria) in Abeokuta.

While explaining to NAN, Mr Akinbiyi said that the Toyota Avensis had lost control as a result of a trye burst, then it somersaulted and hit the four college students that were sitting and waiting in front of a house.

Here's his statement:

The vehicle lost control due to tyre burst and speeding, summersaulted and went to meet people sitting down outside a house instantly killing five of them and injuring two others.“The accident occurred around 10:40pm. Four female college students and a little girl died on the spot.

We learnt they were students of Government Technical College, Abeokuta.”They came for a Muslim programme called Tarjuud which was to start by 12am but were still outside around 10:30 pm, waiting for 12am to enter a mosque where the programme will take place before the incident happened. 

Alcoholic drinks were found in the car and unfortunately the driver of the car could not be located  .                                       

According to Mr Akinbiyi, the remains of those who died on the spot has been dropped at Federal Medical Center Abeokuta,to be taken into their mortuary.While those who were injured were also taken to the same hospital for medical attention.
