The tragedy led to a protest from victims’ families, friends and other drivers running on the route. The protesters burned fire on the road to express their fierce anger towards the reckless driving of tipper drivers in Benin. The driver of the ill-fated bus was also forced to stop his work.

Mr. Samuel Odukoya, the Edo Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the number of people died was nine. He also said that the protesters made it more difficult for his staffs to access the accident scene.
