Police are investigating what led to the fatal road collision, that claimed 9 lives in Fresno County
From the statement released by the authorities concerning the fatal accident, it revealed that it happened when a 28-year-old Daniel Luna driving a 2013 Dodge Journey collided with a 2007 Ford F-150 pickup truck, driven by a yet-to-be-identified woman. The unnamed woman was said to be in the same vehicle with these 7 children, who were reportedly from two related families.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Daniel Luna was taking a trip using the southbound on the highway when he veered off the road onto the dirt shoulder. His decision to get back on course was a bit too much as he swerved over the centerline and crashed into the Ford pickup. As a result of this collision, the officials revealed that the ford was engulfed in fire, leading to the death of all 9 occupants from the 2 vehicles involved.

As we speak, the authorities are looking into the incident to determine whether it was caused by the influence of alcohol or drugs. This case is under the jurisdiction of the Fresno County Coroner’s Office. From the investigation, the unidentified woman driving the Ford pickup truck only had 6 seatbelts available. According to Capt. Kevin Clays, the chances of death or severe injury are higher when taking a trip in a vehicle without wearing the seatbelt.
