Tragedy struck last Wednesday where nine people were killed in a fatal road accident involving two vehicles on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, according to the Federal Road Safety Corps in Ogun State.

Mr Ahmed Umar, who happens to be the FRSC sector commander in the state, while confirming this story to the News Agency of Nigeria in Ota, revealed that 16 other people were injured in the crash. He added that the incident took place around Wich Tech Company, close to Danco Station at about 3:45 pm on the highway.

Umar explained that the unfortunate crash involved a white commercial Mazda bus with registration number APP 28 YE and an unregistered blue Volvo truck. He disclosed that 25 people were involved in this accident, claiming 9 lives and injuring 16 people.
The sector Commander stated that the corpses of the deceased had been sent to the morgue of the Idera Hospital located in Sagamu, while the injured people are presently receiving treatment at the same medical centre.

The cause of the accident according to him is due to violation of the speed limit and overloading on the part of the Mazda bus driver. Umar stated that the driver of the commercial lost control and rammed into the Volvo truck.
He urged the motorists to remain calm as necessary agencies are working to clear the road of any obstruction. Umar also cautioned drivers to refrain from speeding and adhere to traffic regulations to remain safe on the road.
