From a new report reaching us, a minimum of 64 people sustained varying degrees of injuries last Saturday in Kano when a fuel-laden truck exploded. This unfortunate fire incident happened at the Al-ihsan station at Sharada in Kano Municipal area of the state.

The spokesperson for the Kano State Fire Service identified as Malam Aminu Abdullahi, confirming the incident in a statement last Sunday in Kano, revealed that eight fire service workers were part of the 64 people injured in this petrol tanker explosion. Fortunately, no life was lost in this explosion.

Abdullahi stated that they got a distress call of a possible fire incident involving a tanker in Sharada from one Malam Umar Shuai’bu and Nigeria Communication Commission at around 4.20 pm. He said they responded quickly by dispatching a fire crew and a vehicle to the scene where the accident took place at 4.20 pm. According to the spokesman, the petroleum tanker was offloading its product at the filling station when the incident happened.

The injured people according to him were rushed to Nasarawa Hospital and Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital. Abdullahi, however, urged the general public to always report similar incidents immediately to the fire service to avoid unmitigated disasters.
Meanwhile, in another tragic incident that happened recently, one person was killed in a petroleum tanker road accident that took place at Ekulu Bridge, Abakpa Nike in Enugu East Local Government Area of Enugu state.
