Yesterday was a black Sunday for residents of the Obafemi-Owode Local government Area of Ogun State after a fatal accident claimed the lives of 4 people and left 14 others injured. According to new traffic reports, this unfortunate incident took place by 3:40 pm on the 19th of December 2021 along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Luwape. The crash that claimed lives involved a truck and a Mazda bus with no registration number.
FRSC says the recent accident in Ogun State was caused by over-speeding and reckless driving
Florence Okpe, who happens to be the Public Education Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun State, confirmed this incident on Sunday in an official statement. According to her, 20 people, including 12 males and 8 females, were involved in this fatal crash. Okpe said that four people who lost their lives in the accident comprised 2 adult males and 2 females. She added that fourteen people were inflicted with varying degrees of injuries including 8 males and 6 females. Okpe disclosed that reckless driving and overspeeding was responsible for the crash. The driver of a truck without registration veered off his lane and faced an incoming unregistered Mazda bus.

The tragic accident in Ogun State happened the moment when the Mazda bus lost control and crashed into the truck. Okpe revealed that while the truck escaped, those that sustained injuries were rushed to a private hospital in Sagamu for treatment. The corpses of those that lost their lives according to her statement had been deposited at the morgue of the same hospital. She cautioned road users against reckless driving and the need to safeguard their lives on the road.
