The SUV crashed into the kitchen area and restrooms at the coffee shop in La Jolla
The driver of the Lexus RX 350 that crashed into the coffee shop reportedly mistook the gas pedal for the brake, causing the SUV to accelerate out of control and crashed right into the building.
The restaurant founded in 1960 is owned by John Rudolph, who happens to be the son of the late Harry Rudolph. According to James, the brother of the owner, the restaurant was parked with at least 30 people when the incident happened.
The car was later towed from the area of the accident after the arrival of the emergency services
Upon the arrival of the fire crews, they had to evacuate people in the Harry's Coffee Shop and adjacent buildings because of the strong gas smell that filled the air. Although they can't put their fingers around the financial cost of the damage caused by this SUV, it appears they will need to rebuild the whole side of the coffee shop.
