Tragedy struck last Saturday as three vigilante group members lost their lives in a tragic lone accident along Misau-Azare Road in Bauchi State. According to reports, the deceased are members of a northern vigilante group popularly known as “Yan Komiti''. Their vehicle crashed while on a trip to Azare for the wedding of the daughter of Professor Adamu Adamu, who happens to be the Minister of Education.

Naijauto gathered that the unfortunate road incident involved a JAC pickup used as patrol vehicles by security agencies across Bauchi State. The patrol vans were given to them recently by Governor Bala Mohammed. It was quite sad that the vigilantes lost their lives while taking a trip to go celebrate someone else's joyful day. On this same day, another person also died in a fatal car crash that happened along Awala roundabout, inside Bauchi city. These separate incidents were confirmed by Yusuf Abdullahi, who is the sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in the state. According to him, the first crash involving members of the vigilante group was caused by overspeeding as the vehicle veered off the road. He said one of them died right on the spot while the other two gave up the ghost in the hospital.

Abdullahi confirmed that the two separate crashes occurred on the same day. He said the Motor Transport Department of the Bauchi State Police Command were present at the scene of the crashes. The police operatives arrived before FRSC personnel could come to rescue the victims of the accident along Awala roundabout. Abdullahi said the incident that claimed one life involved a Sharon bus and a Honda Civic.
The FRSC boss also revealed that the vigilantes that died in the first crash were on their way to help in maintaining law and order at the Education Minister's daughter's wedding. Their bodies according to the statement had been deposited at the morgue of the Federal Medical Center in Azare. He however cautioned motorists against overspeeding to avoid a similar fate.
