The Corps Marshal and Chief Executive Federal Road Safety Corps, Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi said that out of 5,423 road accidents that occurred in the country from January-June this year, 2,699 people died while 18,198 sustained injuries.
The Deputy Corps Marshal, Julius Asom, who represented Dr.Oyeyemi, revealed this on Monday, at the 8th Annual Road Safety Conference and FRSC/KRSD Essay Competition Award set up by Kwapda'as Safety Demand Keffi, Nasarawa State.

He revealed that the WHO Global Status Report for the year 2018, which borders on road safety shows that out of every four car accidents that happen in Africa, one of the crashes occurs in Nigeria. Naijauto attests to that too. He pointed out that the global community is much concerned about the rate of road crashes in the country. A hazard which he said will be needing appropriate stakeholders that will urgently collaborate with the agency to deal with the menace.

FRSC boss gave some words of assurance to the country of the agency's dedication to ensuring that the collaborative initiatives turn out to be a success while calling on other partners to become part of the road safety scheme so as to save humanity.
