Mazda is set on recalling 25,003 units of its 2019 Mazda 3 because of a possible falling off of wheels while driving. The affected vehicles are 2019 models, meaning they just rolled off the assembly line and are about to return for safety reasons.
The good news here according to the automaker, is the zero casualty case so far associated with this issue. Mazda had put out a statement concerning the apparent reason for the wheel detachment.

Since 2019 Mazda 3 is a very fast car, it will be catastrophic if its wheel falls off while driving at top speed
“A manufacturing process error may result in a gap between the wheel hub bolt and hub flange during assembly. This gap causes loosening of the lug nuts though they were initially tightened to the correct specification at the plant. A rattling noise occurs prior to a wheel detachment from the vehicle,”

The manufacturer indeed tightens the lugs properly at the factory but it is quite worrisome that these lugs could still get loose on their own. If you own one of those models, you should make use of a torque wrench or a wrench that came with the car in order to avoid such loosening. You could also be able to take your car to the dealer to get the problem fixed. For now, just keep your eyes open and always check the lugs on the wheels. Truth is, you would enjoy driving the 2019 Mazda 3 at top speed but you should be concerned about your safety too.
