If you reside in rural areas and park your car outside, it's advisable to always check under your car's bonnet. Who knows, you might be in for a surprise just like this American couple, Chris and Holly.
The couple wasn't aware that the squirrels around their home had been picking walnuts from their yard and stocking them under their car's bonnet
Squirrels stored more than 200 walnuts under the bonnet of this car
Naijauto gathered that Holly went out with the car on Monday and while driving, she started to perceive a burning smell while hearing a strange sound as well. She pulled over and opened the bonnet only to see more than 200 walnuts on the engine with lots of grasses everywhere.
According to Chris,
They were everywhere, under the battery, near the radiator fan. The walnuts on the engine block were black and smelt like they were definitely roasting
Holly had inspected her car just last month and since then, hadn't taken a look under the bonnet. The husband said the walnuts started falling off a few weeks ago. They’ve also observed that the walnuts were no longer many considering how big its tree was. They never expected to find them stocked up under the bonnet.

Chris and Holly spent almost an hour to clean up the car so that it can be taken to an auto repair shop for inspection. When they got to the shop, the car was lifted up and more walnuts fell off. No damage was done to the car.
Chris shared the picture of the walnuts on his Facebook wall
We believe this is a reminder for folks who park their cars outside to always check their bonnet before they hit the road.
