Tragedy struck recently in Kwara State on Wednesday, December 23, 2020, when at least 16 people lost their lives, several vehicles and houses destroyed when a fuel-laden truck exploded. This incident according to report happened in Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The disaster responders were spotted at the scene of the explosion trying to minimize the damage
The truck laden with Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) was reported to be passing through an old town when it lost control and ended up spilling the fuel after ramming into residential buildings. As a result, this led to a massive explosion that razed more than 30 houses and shops to the ground.

From the images shared by new agencies online, we could also see the effect of the huge explosion on many stationed vehicles around the area, which were burnt to the ground.
Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq, who happens to be the governor of Kwara State, while reacting to this tragic incident, through Rafiu Ajakaye, the chief press secretary, sent his condolences to the bereaved families and those who lost their properties to the explosion. The governor expressed his sadness over the explosion while describing the development as devastating.
Sixteen people and properties worth millions were lost to this fire explosion caused by fuel-laden truck
From what we learnt, the chief press secretary revealed that the governor had directed the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to quickly assess the material losses caused by the explosion.
He stated that the governor has commended the efforts of the state’s Fire Service and other responding agencies in helping to control the raging fire and reduce the loss to the barest minimum.
