At least 11 people have been confirmed dead and 22 were injured in a recent auto crash that occurred on the popular Ife-Gbongan-Ibadan road over the last weekend. The heartbreaking accident reportedly occurred during the midnight hour around Gbongan Junction which is opposite the Ayedaade LGA secretariat at a 5km distance from the popular Sasa bridge on that route.

According to press reports, this ghastly accident involved a black-painted Toyota HiAce bus and a white-painted Mazda E2000 bus with plate reg no. KJA 392 YA. Media sources claim that “Overspeeding” led to the loss of control which eventually caused a head-on collision between these two commercial vehicles. Press investigations revealed that the horrifying incident caused 16 victims to be severely injured and rushed down to Ariremako Hospital in the Gbongan area of Osun State. Similarly, 6 other victims with even more serious injuries had to be redirected to Osogbo Central Hospital via ambulance because the hospital in Gbongan rejected them.
Mrs Agnes Ogungbemi, the PRO of FRSC division in Ile-Ife, told the press that the agency’s rescue team took 10 corpses of some victims of this crash to OAUTH morgue in Ile-Ife, Osun state. She also revealed that the body of one other victim of the accident was released to relatives who claim to be of the Hausa tribe that resides in Lagos. The Spokesperson for FRSC disclosed that some cash, luggage and 7 mobile phones were recovered by the FRSC from the incident scene.
