Some famous Nigerian celebrities have lost their lives but do you know how many died in car accidents?

Over the years, the Nigerian entertainment industry has lost some really talented and famous entertainers to the cold hands of death. A good number of  Nigerian celebrities died in car crashes as far back as we can remember and also as recent as just recently.

Naijautos.com has put together a list of the top 10 Nigerian celebrities who died in car crashes dating as far back as 2006 when popular Nollywood actor, JT Tom West lost his life in an ill-fated car crash while returning from a movie location after a late night shoot.

1. Reality TV star, Chidinma Mbalaso

Chidinma Mbalaso died aged 22 following a ghastly motor accident on her way back to Abuja from Kaduna

Chidinma Mbalaso of the Koko Mansion rose to fame after she participated and became the second runner up in the Koko Mansion 2009 reality TV show organized by Nigerian music icon, Dbanj. She registered her presence at the show with her stunning and beautiful looks.

The 200 level undergraduate of University of Abuja died on March 25, 2011, following a ghastly motor accident on her way back to Abuja from Kaduna.

Chidinma had travelled to Kaduna to pick up her car, her first car but unfortunately died before she could reach home with the car.

Naijauto's gathered that a motorcyclist had unexpectedly run into her lane and while trying to avoid hitting the motorcyclist, she lost control of the car.

Chidinma was rushed to the hospital but following an inability to get matching blood in time, she died. She died aged 22.

2. Famous Nigerian rapper, Dagrin

Dagrin whose real name was Oladapo Olaitan Olaonipekun died at the age of 22 on 22 April 2010 after a car crash in Lagos.

Dagrin died exactly eight days after the ghastly motor accident on April 14 2010 in front of Alakara Police Station, Mushin, Lagos.

According to reports, his car- a Nissan Maxima rammed into a truck. The car which was a wreck after the accident was last seen in public during the premier of the rapper's highly talked about biopic, “Ghetto Dreamz” in 2011.

Dagrin gave voice to indigenous rap in the Nigerian music scene.

The biographical film "Ghetto Dreamz" told the story of Dagrin's personal life, his struggles, challenges, success and ultimate tragic death.

Before "Ghetto Dreamz," the Nigerian film industry has never produced a biopic chronicling the life and times of any Nigerian musician.

Many lovers of his music believed that Dagrin's car should have been preserved as part of national history but unfortunately, the ill-fated Nissan Maxima was abandoned at the Lagos State University (LASU) premises for over six years before being cleared off to Owode Onirin (a popular iron and motor parts market in Lagos).

3. “Do Good” actor, Oliver

Oliver Duke is also known as McLinchung was born on the October 30 and died on April 3 2019. He studied Business Administration at the Kwara state polytechnic.

In the popular M-Net sitcom series (Do Good), Sylvanus played the role of a stingy businessman who loved both his money and a waitress named Adaku.

Ceejay Perez, an upcoming Nollywood actor also died in a fatal car crash.

Perez died in an accident in Onitsha, Anambra State. The accident occurred when their driver lost control and ran into a drainage.

Perez and four other passengers of the vehicle died on the spot.

Perez, who hailed from Isuofia in Anambra State, before his untimely death featured in some films produced in Asaba, Delta State.

He died on April 1 2016.

5. Popular Nigerian singer, MC Loph

The list of famous Nigerian celebrities who died in car crashes will not be complete without the mention of this very talented Nigerian singer, MC Loph.

MC Loph, who was known for the song Osondi Owendi feat Flavour died on September 14 2011.

He was on his way to his village along with his elder sister for his traditional marriage when their car suffered an ill-fated crash and they died.

Eye witness said that the talented rapper, whose remix of the legendary highlife star's song (Osondi Owendi) by late Chief Stephen Osita Osadebe ran into a big pothole, skidded off the road and plunged into a ditch on that black Wednesday afternoon.

MC Loph’s fiancee who was pregnant at the time later gave birth to a son. MC Loph died aged 38.

Following MC Loph’s death and burial, Flavour released a single, Iwe, in his honour. The video of the song featured stills from Loph’s funeral.

6. Afrobeats singer, Juggernaut

The rapper, whose full name is Egbeoluwa Ademilade, was buried on Tuesday, October 2 2018. 

He started out his music career as a member and the only rapper in a group of three called the Triple X Entertainment; the other two members being May D (Moyukun Awodunmila) and Faloads (Femi Falode).

His “Retouch Your Swag” single premiered on Cloud9.

The Nollywood entertainment industry suffered a great loss when JT Tom West died in 2006.

J.T, as he was popularly called, was popular for his role in action films, including the classic "State of Emergency," which starred him alongside Saint Obi, Ejike Asiegbu, Bimbo Manuel, among others veterans.

Our very dear JT Tom West topped the list of Nigerian celebrities who died in car accidents in 2006. His career ambitions were tragically cut short when he died on September 28 2006, in a fatal auto accident while returning from a movie location after a late night shoot.

He died aged 41.

Nollywood actor, Ebere Larry Ebere popularly known as Cornel, died after a ghastly car crash which later claimed his life in April 2019 in Asaba.

Ebere Larry Ebere became the first on the list of Nigerian celebrities who died in car crashes in 2019. He died a couple of days after a head surgery following the accident.

Before his death, Ebere Larry Ebere featured in a good number of Nollywood films. He was a Nollywood sensation back in the early days of Nollywood.
