Tragedy struck recently when a 22-year-old man lost his life while five other people were injured in a three-car collision last Tuesday in Tamarac.

According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, one Nicholas Maxwell Atkinson was driving at high speed west on West Commercial Boulevard around 9 pm when he lost control of his 2009 Ford Crown Victoria.

As a result, the vehicle spun through the lane where it ended up striking the raised median, crashing into a tree and splitting in two. It was revealed that the back half of the Ford car was found wrapped around the tree while the front part slid on its roof into the eastbound traffic.

From what we learnt, the driver’s side window of a Chevy Suburban going east was shattered by the piece of debris from the crashed Ford. The front part of the Ford was later hit by a Buick that was driving east. The 22-year-old Atkinson was found dead at the scene of the crash.
The driver behind the wheel of the Buick and the four other occupants in his car were all taken to Holy Cross Hospital where they received treatment for minor injuries and later released. The authorities revealed that traffic homicide detectives are already working on the case.
