There are ways to upgrade the different year models of the very popular Honda Accord in Nigeria, It's great if you get it right. Check it out!

The Honda Accord is a house-hold name for a practical mid-size four-door sedan that Nigerians buy a lot. The Honda Accord is also one of the best-selling cars in the USA. This automatically means the Accord is a very reliable car.

Today, I will show you how to upgrade Honda Accord in Nigeria. Starting from the Honda Accord, sixth-generation Accord, to the 10th generation that is presently in production. This is because these are the relevant Honda Accord models present in Nigeria today.

Honda Accord generations since day one

Some cars are built by auto manufacturers to be very rigid in terms of modifications, just like Volvos and Kias. Honda sedans are known to be tuner friendly which means you can easily modify and upgrade the cars according to your taste.

There is something about the Accord that makes it even more attractive to sporty car buyers. From the 5th generation, every Honda model has a 2 door Coupe Variant based on the sedan platform. The Coupe has a different build from the regular Sedans. The major competitors of the Honda Accord have no stand-alone Coupe and this makes the Accord sell more.

Just check for your Honda Accord model in this article and be blessed.

Upgrading/facelifting sixth-generation Accord (Baby Boy)

The Honda Accord baby boy 2-door can easily be upgraded but cannot be facelifted to a newer model. However, the upgrades are very scarce in Nigeria. However, they are very common in Japan and China because that is where most of the parts are produced.

The Honda Babyboy cannot be facelifted

To upgrade this car, you will have to import almost all the parts because the Nigerian car parts dealers have stopped stocking aftermarket parts for the Honda Baby Boy. I am talking about parts like modified body kits, modified headlights/taillights, grilles, and side skirts. Bumper add-ons are very common modifications for the Honda Accord baby boy.

Babyboy with modified body kits makes it look fast

Would people fancy an upgraded Honda Accord Babyboy? Of course! I once saw a Mugen 2001 Honda Accord in Lagos and I was stunned. It had smoked headlights and a modified front and rear bumper. All Honda.

Accord Babyboy models can have an Android screen installed in them for up-to-date infotainment.

Cost of upgrading the Honda Accord Baby boy:

Upgrading/facelifting Honda Accord seventh-generation (E.O.D/Discussion continues)

For the 7th generation, Honda started production of the Accord in 2003. A European version and the American version were produced. The American version was nicknamed the Honda Accord End of Discussion because that was the catchphrase Honda used to market the car in the official commercial. The European version isn't common in Nigeria because it is just a rebadged Acura TL and it has a Station Wagon variant, unlike the E.O.D.

E.O.D & Discussion continues; the same car in front but totally different at the rear

After the Honda Accord 2005 model, the 'end of discussion' was refreshed for the 2006 model but the facelift was only striking at the rear. It was nicknamed Honda Accord "end of discussion." The long rectangular taillights were changed into a triangular shape with dotted LEDs that were smaller in size and the front grille was also changed. It is impossible to facelift the rear of the 2003 - 2005 Honda Accord into the 2006 and 2007 models. But there are a lot of upgrades for this car just like the previous models.

The differences between the End of Discussion and Discussion continues is very minute; don't be deceived by the looks.

You can see the modified rims and bumper add-ons

The Coupe carries a V6 engine and is more streamlined with a totally different rear. In fact, the inspiration for the 2006 Accord facelift came from the rear of the Honda Accord Coupe.

The Accord Coupe can look like a proper sports car with mods

Modified grilles, headlights, taillights, side skirts, and rims are available for the Honda Accord 7th generation. This is for both the sedan and the Coupe. The interior infotainment can also be upgraded to a Tesla screen, Android, or just a touchscreen with navigation and Bluetooth.

In-car entertainment on the E.O.D is very important

All upgrades can be bought from online car parts stores at affordable prices but the shipping makes financially stressful.

Upgrading/facelifting Honda Accord eight-generation Evil Spirit :

The Honda Accord Evil spirit was produced from 2007 till 2012 to compete with the Camry Muscle. The Honda Accord 2008 is the year model that is most common in Nigeria, especially in Nothern Nigeria. The Sedan and Coupe received a facelift in 2011. Also, a revised front fascia and taillights that extend into the trunk.

The difference is clearer at the rear

Good news! You can facelift your Honda Accord 2007 - 2010 to the 2011/2012 model with a conversion kit. To achieve the exact rear of the Honda Accord 2012, you have to buy the full trunk lid. It sounds stressful, right? It isn't. It is just a plug-and-play thing.

Who would believe this is a Honda? Rims, headlights, grilles and ground effects all modified

The Evil spirit has a very wide variety of aftermarket upgrades. The Evil spirit can be tweaked anyhow you want it as long as you are on a realistic budget. With just ₦300,000 you can upgrade your Evil Spirit to a level where your car becomes a god amongst other evil spirits out there. This also applies to the 2-door Coupe variant. There is a particular modification that goes well on all Honda Accord Coupes. This is the Lambo door hinge that makes the car doors open vertically like a Lamborghini. It will be installed by a panel beater.

These Coupes are very common in Nigeria, buy one and upgrade it

My top 5 upgrades for you if you drive an Evil Spirit are as follows:

  1.  Aftermarket grilles, either mesh or a badgeless plastic grille
  2.  Front and Rear bumper add-ons
  3.  Aftermarket headlights and Taillights (the kind you don't see every day)
  4.  Performance alloy rims
  5.  Performance exhaust upgrade

Upgrading/facelifting ninth-generation Accord (Anaconda):

The Honda Accord 2013 is the blandest and most silent Accord ever produced and I mean that in terms of the exterior design. Nicknamed Anaconda because of how it looks like a snake from the front fascia. The car rarely makes a statement when it drives by you because the design has no striking identity.

This went on from 2013 till 2015, then Honda redesigned the 9th generation Accord and it was epic. The car was still on the exact same design platform as before but the new grilles and LED headlights in front made everything so different.

The rear was also revised, featuring LED taillights and chrome finish all around. Overall, the car looks exactly like a performance car especially with the sports trim level.

This is the most significant facelift in the history of the Honda Accord

It is possible to upgrade your 2013, 2014, and 2015 Honda Accord Anaconda to look like the 2016 and 2017 model very easily with a conversion kit that includes bonnet, headlights, rear bumper, fenders, and fog lamps. The upgrade involves little fabrication, especially when installing the fenders and bonnet. The headlight and taillight installation also needs to be done by a well-seasoned wiring technician.

I know this because in 2019 I was the head of a team that upgraded a Honda Accord 2014 to a 2016 model, and we completed it in 2 days before the paint job was done. Troubleshooting Honda Accords for anomalies during the upgrade process is the main reason you need professional automotive wiring technicians around AKA 'rewire'. The same principles facelift applies to the Coupe. The Coupe facelift is even more interesting because the result takes the older models to a whole new level based on looks.

This upgrade is the most common upgrade for the Honda Accord in Nigeria. You still have the option of going in the way of the aftermarket upgrades. Modified 9th generation Accords look faster than they really are. Did you even know you can make your Honda Accord faster with a proper engine tune and performance upgrades? Well, that is a story for another day. Please keep in touch with us at

Here is a 2013 Accord upgrade in the process right here in Nigeria

The conversion kits for this car are available at car parts dealership across the country. Ladipo market in Lagos State should be your go-to place to purchase facelift kits for your Honda Accord, then the Oyingbo market in Lagos comes in second. If you want custom parts then you have to shop online for that.

Modified Honda Coupes look good all the time

Aftermarket body kits are available for the Accord also along with other parts like LEDs, grilles, rear diffusers, Lambo door kits, trunk spoilers and rims that make your Accord look more interesting. Remember, the internet is your friend and you should always search for car parts that are not available in Nigeria. There is always an international retail store online with the right part you need.

Upgrading/facelifting Honda Accord 10th generation

The new generation Honda Accords for sale in Nigeria has no nickname yet because its design is still amusing to a lot of Nigerians. Some call it ugly while some think it is the most beautiful Accord ever designed to date. Most trims carry a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine because of emission regulations and engine power optimization.

Subtle modifications go well on the new Accord

Personally, I feel the Honda Accord 2018 is special. When I saw this car and reviewed it in 2020 I was stunned by the bold exterior styling in front. Then the rear just feels like Honda gave up the good work while designing it because it is too bland to compliment the front fascia. I looked closer from another angle, and I noticed Honda was trying to make the sedan also look like their SUV designs. Everyone keeps talking about the new generation Honda Accord vs Toyota Camry but the two cars were are very unique in every way.

Anyways, the gist here is that there is no facelift available for this car yet. I hope Honda revises the exterior whenever there is a mid-cycle refresh. You also need to know that the 10th generation Accord is not tuner friendly at all. The car is hard when it comes to upgrading and to fit body kits on because all the body lines have already been stretched and chiseled for aesthetics. You can still fit your favorite aftermarket rims on while we await aftermarket parts that actually make sense.
