You may not need to take your dented car to the mechanic every time. You can quite cheaply fix your car dents yourself using this easy method: using hot water! See how to do it below!

Getting involved in an accident is not just dangerous for physical health but also results in damage on the car. One common result of colliding with cars or ramming into a tree or walls is a car dent. We understand the cost of repairing a damaged car is prohibitive these days, especially if your car is not covered by insurance.

Panel beaters and other auto body work technicians will take a chunk from your pocket, even if they are just fixing a simple dent. However, good news is that there is an increasing knowledge base of homemade car care methods that work. There is an easy DIY method you can use at home to get rid of that car dent. This method is simplicity itself and works every time to remove a bad car dent. It is also cheap and allows you to maintain the paint work. With this method, you don't have to bother taking your car to a car mechanic to mend the dent or use your car insurance. How is it done? Check it out:

1. Using hot water to fix a dent

Before you proceed, bear in mind that what matter most in using this method is being quick.

Things you will need

  • Hot water
  • Plungers (Like you use in the bathroom)


  • First, you need to boil some water in a kettle or pot. The quantity of water depends on how large the dent is. So, boil the water to make it capable of making the car body pliable or soft.


Be careful when you pour hot water on the car

  • When the water is boiled, directly pour it on the affected area or the dent.
  • Quickly use the plunger to pull or suck the dent out. Do this before the heat of the hot water on the dent dissipates and the area becomes cool.

2.  Using just a plunger

You can also use a plunger to pull out the dent from the car. Though, this may be difficult to handle when compared to the hot water method.

Things to use

  • Plunger


  • Drench your plunger with some water to make it easy to use.
  • Then simply pull the dent out with the plunger.
  • Keep doing this till the dent is are all gone and the car looks okay.

3. Using a Vacuum cleaner and pot/bucket

You can use a vacuum and either a pot or bucket to suction out a dent from a car. This will be great to use if you have a vacuum cleaner already.

Things to use

  • Vacuum cleaner
  • Pot/ Bucket


  • Get a pot or bucket and make a hole in the middle of the bottom. The hole should be closer to the size of the hose of the vacuum, you can glue it tight if it possible to make it airtight.
  • If all things are in place, place the bucket on the affected area of the dent and suction with the help of your vacuum.
  • Keep doing this till all affected area of the dent is smooth again.
