Subaru has broken its own record by setting a new Guinness World Record at the recently held Subiefest in the United States, which witnessed 1,751 cars.

Things are starting to get back to normal despite the havoc caused by the deadly coronavirus on the global automotive industry. Just recently, one of the biggest yearly gatherings of Subaru lovers dubbed Subiefest was held in the US, setting a new Guinness World Record for the largest parade of cars from a single brand.

Subaru owners in the United States graced this year's event in Mass, enough to set a new record

According to what we learnt, an estimated 1,751 Subaru cars were driven by their owners, breaking the 2015 feat which witnessed the attendance of 549 cars. This event wasn't the first time we would witness the gathering of cars of that magnitude. not too long ago, over 200 Lamborghini supercars paraded Yokohama street on Lamborghini day 2018.

The idea behind the initiative of such massive auto gathering is to combat hunger in the US

Usually, tickets would be sold to the participants, but this year’s seemed to be a bit different. Instead, the attendees were asked by the company to make a donation to Feeding America. The proceeds from the donation will be given out to two local food banks known as Second Harvest Orange County and Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. The amount generated from this event would be used to provide as much as 241,800 meals for those in dire need. The auto company will also add its own contribution, rounding it up to 500,000 meals.

According to Alan Bethke, who happens to be the Senior Vice President of Subaru, the essence of giving out these proceeds to Feeding America, will assist in offering stability and comfort for those people who are confronted with hunger in the United States.

The previous Guinness World Record for the largest auto gathering was set back in 2015 by the same company

The initiative is part of the collaboration between Feeding America and Subaru in making provision for 50 million meals to people affected by the deadly virus.

This 2020 Subiefest wasn’t only about feeding the people in the country. It was also used as an avenue to preview Subaru’s second-generation BRZ sportscar. The model is expected to make its full debut this fall with futuristic exterior styling, latest interior design and turbocharged 2.4-litre engine coughing out as much as 260 horsepower and 277-pound feet of torque.
