Many would not believe that the Rolls Royce brand has actually been around for over a hundred years now. Naijauto.com has sure not been around that long which is why we find this brand fascinating to have survived that period of time 😊.

When talking about luxury in automotive today, Rolls Royce Motor Cars is definitely in its own class. Their automobiles always stand out amidst others anywhere you find them and their presence can not just be overstated at all.

This super luxury brand, however, did not start 5 or 6 decades ago; rather it has actually been around for over a century now. Quite long, isn’t it?

1. How was Rolls-Royce brand established?

On the 4th of May 1904, the founders of this luxury brand, Henry Royce and Charles Rolls literally met at the Midland Hotel, Manchester for the first time; this was an encounter that changed the course of luxury automotive history till date.

From that day to now, it’s exactly 115 years that the marque being agreed to be formed that day has continued to set impressive global standards for excellence and innovation, as well as uphold the brand’s legacy as the real originators of “the best car in the world” till date.

For just 2019 alone, we can guess that Rolls Royce would undoubtedly be amazed at the number of luxury vehicles produced under its name. Over a century and more has elapsed now since the debut of Rolls Royce’s first 10hp vehicle at the Paris Salon and since then their products have seen a complete transformation in manufacturing methods, technology and materials used.

Rolls Royce is no doubt the top brand in the world that provides utmost luxury

Even after being around for such a long time, Rolls Royce Motors in several key areas retains strong unbroken links to back in its pioneering days; and even in its values, instincts and approach, it will still immediately – and admirably – be recognizable to its founding fathers till now.

Henry Royce had begun his career in automotive by building a kind of improved variant of the 10hp 2-cylinder French Decauville vehicles – the very first car he actually bought when his electrical company (eponymous) became successful back then.

When Charles Rolls saw and had the chance to drive this Royce’s built machine, he immediately knew that he had surely found a British vehicle that could literally outshine all the continental competitions and he agreed to sell all of the cars that Henry Royce could build that time.

In the first 2 years of production, Rolls Royce produced just 10 cars.

However, in the year 2018, the brand delivered a total of 4,107 vehicles – the highest so far in its annual total unit sold in its history till date – to its customers in more than 50 different countries around the world.

This was the Rolls Royce Cullinan hyper-luxury SUV which really caused a massive international sensation on launching it in the year 2018, and it sure sets the new global standard in the world of luxury off-road automobiles.

It is truly a celebration of excellence for any automaker to have been around this long and still be among the world’s leading brand till date. We hope to see more super-luxury vehicle models from Rolls Royce in the future with more interest in the possibilities of its participation in the new trend of vehicles integrated with electric technology for power supply.

We also hope that Nigeria’s very own indigenous automaker - Innoson motors will also look up to these world top brands and improve its game with time.
