Continental Tyres will hold a showcase at Mercedes-Benz World to help drivers experience Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) technology.
Continental will offer a show at Mercedes-Benz World based at the Brooklands motor circuit in the United Kingdom, from 31st July to 13th August. Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) is a useful technology that helps the driver identify emergencies in advance, brakes automatically in time and reduce the speed of crash if necessary. Therefore, the driver can avoid accidents and have safe trips on the go.

Study shows that the AEB can reduce up to 38% in rear-end accidents in the real life and shows the potential for saving 1,100 lives in the next 10 years. A research carried out by Continental Tyres in partnership with the Global NCAP this year demonstrated that although 4 in 5 drivers think that safety technologies like AEB are necessary and important factors when purchasing a car, there are still 9 million motorists who are not willing to invest money into such features. Nevertheless, 76% of drivers would still like to see how safety technologies work when buying a new car from a franchised dealership.

“With demonstrations such as these and our previous winter tire tests at Mercedes-Benz World, we hope to educate people about the potential of using automotive technology to improve safety and possibly save lives, coupled with tyres that are above the legal tread depth and correctly inflated. These free driving experiences further support our ‘Vision Zero’, a global initiative that aims to reduce road accidents worldwide through improved driver education and enhanced automotive safety systems,” said Mark Griffiths, Safety Expert at Continental Tyres.

“Mercedes-Benz World is great for all ages and the more people we can get to try out the demos, the more we can spread the vital safety message,” he added.

The AEB demonstrations will last two weeks and it will take 20 minutes for every session. People don’t need to book in advance, just go to the show those days, between 11.00 and 13.00.
