Audi has come a long way in the automobile world. Way back in the 1960s, which heralded the success story of the producer of high-performance cars. And this year, the German automaker marks the 25th years of one of its model, Audi RS lineup. Audi has chosen to celebrate it by going down memory lane at the models that have been rolled out under the RS name.

1. Audi RS 2 Avant - 1994
The first RS model Audi produced was the RS 2 Avant, in 1994. It was equipped with a 2.2-liter turbocharged five-cylinder engine that delivers 311 hp (232 kW/315 PS). The engine of the wagon is mated with a 7-speed manual gearbox which transmits power to the Audi Quattro AWD system with a self-locking center differential.

2. Audi RS 4 Avant - 1999
Next, on Audi's RS lineup was the RS 4 Avant launched in 1999. Fitted with a 2.7-liter twin-turbo V6 engine which got an upgrade to Cosworth engine, the car was able to put out 375 hp (280 kW/380 PS).

3. Audi RS 4 Avant - 2005
In 2005, a new RS 4 model was rolled out which packed a V8 engine that delivers 414 hp (309 kW/420 PS).

4. Audi RS 6 Avant - 2008
In 2008, Audi produced the RS 6 Avant model, featuring a 5.0-liter twin-turbo V10 engine which puts out 572 hp(426 kW/580 PS) and a torque of 479 lb-ft (650 Nm).

Audi has plans to expand on its product lineups this year as the company says "six further product innovations" are underway and that two will be rolled out under RS version.
There are speculations that one of the lineups is the new RS Q8. From reports, it will run on a detuned version of the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine which was featured in the Lamborghini Uris.
To celebrate the RS model's 25th years on the road, Audi will be hosting an exhibition for Audi enthusiasts at its Forum in Neckarsulm. And there, all Audi RS models will be put on display. Also, there's going to be an exhibition of an RS 8 prototype, though never produced and race cars.
