Nigerians purchase cars for a lot of reasons, and one of such is to show off their recent status. That's why plenty of them spend a fortune buying expensive wonder on wheels so they don't feel inadequate when in the midst of friends. There's a belief that if you drive a Toyota, Honda or Volkswagen, you're driving a cheap car. But at the mention of a Rolls-Royce, Jaguar, or Mercedes-Benz, you're perceived as having "arrived". Instead of spending all your life savings on a car, you can actually buy some cheap cars that will make you look rich. 1. Used BMW M5 (N3 million - N4 million)
German automakers are known for making some of the best machines in the world. Between 2000 - 2003, BMW made one of the finest generations of sedans ever - the E39 M5. Though the maintenance cost isn't as cheap as what's attainable in a Honda or Toyota sedan car built around the same time, it definitely shows you can "afford" a good car.
But unknowingly to many people, this generation of BMW M5 cars are actually quite affordable. The 2003 M5 goes for just about 3.3 million nairas. There's also the E60 launched a short time after. It goes for 4 million nairas and comes with some bespoke tech features.

2. Used Porsche 911 (~N5 million)
Once Nigerians hear the word "Porsche", they associate it with celebrity status and loads of money. But would you ever believe you can actually own your own new Porsche car for less than 5 million nairas? Well, the 996 generation of the Porsche 911 is that car.
There are other generations of the 911 that are actually expensive, but nobody will really ask you how much you bought yours once you drive by. A Porsche 911 is all they'll see. Similarly, the first generation Porsche Cayennes and Porsche Cayman S cars are rumoured to be quite cheap as well. Some go for between 5 - 8 million nairas.

3. Used Bentley Arnage (~N3 million)
Bentley cars are mainly seen on music videos and movies. But you can own one for less than the price of a new Honda Accord! Shocking right? The Bentley Arnage was one model by the brand that once cost over $150,000 (over 45 million nairas) in the 90s. But after low sales and some depreciation, it's become as affordable as you can ever imagine. It definitely a cheap car that would make you look rich.

4. Used Cadillac CTS-V (~N4 million)
When the likes of Snoop Dogg and Jay Z rap about driving their Cadillacs on music videos, you would swear those automobiles cost a fortune. It simply depends on what model and version. The first generation Cadillac CTS-V which puts out over 350 horsepower and a reasonable amount of torque goes for about 4 million naira for a unit. Though the most recent version is sold for almost 30 million nairas, it's a Cadillac.
Nigerians will always drool at a car with a name and look that is different from what they are used to. Also, the Cadillac STS-V is also as affordable as the CTS-V - and even more luxurious.

5. Used Jaguar S-Type R (~N4 million)
Jaguar cars have this sleek but yet ferocious animal look. It makes their vehicles stand out from the crowd. What many people don't know is that you can get some of their models for quite an affordable price. The Jaguar S-type R comes quite cheap with its 400 ib-feet of torque and the same amount of horsepower - and will definitely make you look rich. It's classy, rigged and really comfy.
Asides this model, you can also check out the Jaguar XKR and Jaguar XJ supercharged models. They both come with a V8 engine and go for as low as 3.9 million nairas.

6. Land Rover Range Rover Supercharged (~N5 million)
If you can't afford the Range Rover Sport, you can at least settle for the Range Rover Supercharged model. It's as classy, comfy, rugged and reliable as any SUV you can think of. Buying a Range Rover sport might cost you about 35 million nairas, but the supercharged variant goes for just about 7 times less than that.

7. The Maserati Quattroporte (~N4 million)
As stated earlier, Nigerians believe that cars with a different name are a sign of wealth and great status. They assume that being able to afford such a vehicle means you probably import the parts and run on some special kind of fuel. Ensure they maintain that thought by getting yourself a Maserati Quattroporte. It gives you that car race feels - especially with an engine that sounds like one you'll find in a Ferrari.
There's actually some listed online for as low as 4 million nairas. If you want another Maserati option, you can as well consider the Spyder model.

8. Some Mercedes-Benz cars (N2 million - N5 million)
Not everybody would believe you can get a Mercedes-Benz AMG for less than 5 million nairas, but there are quite some of them out there. The SL55 AMG, S65 AMG and CLS63 AMG cars are not as expensive as you think - especially when you go for early generations. The early generation CLS63 AMG coupe goes for about 4.8 million, the S65 AMG sedan goes for the less than the cost of a new latest Toyota Corolla and so does the SL55.

That said, do not expect affordability in the latest versions of the cars listed. Go for the early generations with great designs - especially those made in the late 90s or early 2000s. Oh, before I forget, check out the early versions of the Rolls-Royce Silver Spur and Silver Spirit models too. They are also cheap cars that will make you look rich.
